Dialogue: (對話)

Hope:

Hi, Joey. How is everything?

Joey:

Not so good.

Hope:

Oh? Why?

Joey:

Have you heard about the upcoming project proposal?

Hope:

No, I haven’t. What’s the scoop? Did the manager spill the beans?

Joey:

Spill the beans? 灑翻豆子?

Hope:

Oh, it means tell the secret information.

Joey:

I see. Spill the beans means洩漏秘密.

Hope:

Yes. So it is going to be a hot potato?

Joey:

A hot potato, 熱的馬鈴薯? Does it mean 燙手山竽?

Hope:

Yes, that’s right. So, why do you feel upset?

Joey:

Well, I just don’t feel like working with Jack. You know he was a bad egg. He almost screwed me up on the project we worked last time.

Hope:

How come?

Joey:

He was good-for-nothing and unreliable. He told me he would do his part,

but ended up giving an A4-size-page report only. I finally completed the project all by myself!

Hope:

Poor you. But I know you are the cream of the crop!

Joey:

Cream of the crop? What do you mean? 我是農作物上的奶油?

Hope:

Oh! It means you are the best of a group. You are the best of the best!

Joey:

Oh, it’s so nice of you to say so.

Hope:

I think all you have to do is to wait for the meeting with the boss next Monday.

And before that, you just need to do something to spice your life up.

Joey:

Why should I spice my life up? I am not food?! 為什麼要加佐料?

Hope:

Sorry. To spice things up means to make things more interesting.

Joey:

I see. you are right. I need to try to do something to spice my life up!

Hope:

That’s right! This way, you will be full of beans next week.

Joey:

Hey, come on! Why will I be full of beans. I am not going the farmer’s market tomorrow!

Hope:

Oh, to be full of beans means to have a lot of energy.

Joey:

Really? How interesting expression!  Yes, for sure, with enough rests, I’ll be full of beans next week.

Hope:

So, why bother with the project. Use your noodle! This is life. It’s always full of expectations!

Joey:

Wait! What do you mean by asking me to use my noodle?

Hope:

Oh. I just want to use your brain, and you can find the solutions in life.

Joey:

Phew~ you make me nervous!
