在每年的願望清單中,「減重」都是榜上有名的常客,因為真的好難達成啊~~~

但要減重,也要減得健康、吃得健康,而關於健康飲食的相關英文用語又該如何表達呢?

 

[學習目標]: 學習健康飲食相關英文的字詞

Dialogue: (對話)

 

Hope:

Hey, Joey. Have you heard of the term, whole foods?

Joey:

Whole foods? 全食物?

Hope:

Close. It’s a popular diet these years. It’s 原型食物in Chinese.

Joey:

Ah~原型食物. So, 原型食物in English is whole foods. I got it. Yes, whole foods diet are very popular in recent years. In fact,

I am trying to eat more whole foods rather than 加工食物.

Hope:

Good for you. Processed foods are somehow considered not as healthy, compared with whole foods.

Joey:

And the idea of whole foods diet is quite popular in my office, too.

Hope:

I guess it’s because most of office workers spend their time working at their desks.

They hardly have chance to get enough exercise. Eating too much processed food may lead to some unexpected diseases.

On the other hand, eating foods whole can limit our body from absorbing things we don’t need.

Joey:

And I have heard that it can be easier for you to put on weight if you eat only processed food

because some processed foods contains too much sugar, salt, 添加物and 飽和脂肪酸, 等等.

Hope:

Yes, some processed foods contains too much food additives as well as saturated fat. They are bad to our health.

Joey:

Food additives 是食物添加劑and saturated fat是飽和脂肪酸. So, 不飽和脂肪酸不就是unsaturated fat?

Hope:

Bingo. 不飽和脂肪酸 is unsaturated fat, which is thought to be better for our health.

Joey:

By the way, you know Emily in our office有麩質不耐症, so right now she only eats 藜麥.

Hope:

I have heard that Quinoa can be a great alternative to people who are gluten intolerant.

Joey:

Gluten intolerant is 麩質不耐症, right?

Hope:

Right.

Joey:

So, how do you say藜麥 in English again?

Hope:

It’s quinoa.

Joey:

Yes. Quinoa. Emily says that quinoa is a great alternative to her main food

because she has been suffering from problems of gluten intolerant since she was young.

Hope:

Yes, quinoa is gluten-free, so people say it is good to our health.

Joey:

By the way, some people eat 糙米for main food because 它有豐富纖維.

Hope:

That’s true. Brown rice is rich in fiber, so it is better than white rice.

Joey:

Anyway, 越來越多人注重養生了。I think it’s a good idea to join them!

Hope:

I agree. people are more health-conscious than before. It’s time to join them.
