Dialogue: (對話)

Hope:

How’s your day, Joey?

Joey:

Pretty good. How about you, Hope?

Hope:

Not bad. Hey, Joey. I just had a meeting with Ms. Lee. She is satisfied with our proposal.

Joey:

真的嗎? That’s great to hear!

Hope:

Hey, Joey, did you notice that Bella seems a bit off today. She hardly said anything during the meeting.

Joey:

A bit off? 她看起來心不在焉嗎? 關機嗎?

Hope:

Yes. It means she looks upset and distracted – not her usual cheerful self.

Joey:

就是有些不對勁,對嗎?

Hope:

Uh huh.

Joey:

Well, she just broke up with her boyfriend. That’s why she took yesterday off.

Hope:

Oh, no, poor Bella. She must be feeling really down.

Joey:

Yeah. I was thinking about how we could help her go through this and feel better.

We don’t want to say the wrong thing and make her feel worse.

Hope:

You are right. It’s tricky. Maybe the best thing we can do is just be there for her and listen if she wants to talk.

Joey:

Exactly. That’s what I think.

Hope:

For now, I think we should give her some space. It’s important not to push her.

Joey:

She really seems different today. You know, I talked to her this morning, and she just said, “I’m fine,”

but I could tell she is not. That’s why I am worried.

Hope:

Sometimes people just need time to process their feelings. I mean if I were her, I would want people to leave me alone for a while.

Joey:

I know we shouldn’t say things like, “Don’t be sad!” or “You will find someone better.”

Hope:

Definitely not. Those aren’t helpful.

Joey:

How about leaving a note or a card says something like, “I am here for you,” or “I know this is really hard for you?”

Hope:

That’s a nice idea. Offering support is a good start. We shouldn’t try criticize her ex or the relationship because we are not in her place.

Joey:

True. After all, we don’t know the whole story. So, what do you think if we invite her to dinner tonight or suggest a walk in a park?

Hope:

Well, if she needs distractions, they are good options to try. But it all depends on whether she is ready to open up.

Joey:

I see. When she is ready, we can be there to listen and support her.

Hope:

And if she feels like crying, we’ve got our shoulders for her.

Joey:

So, what can we do now to show her we care?

Hope:

Do nothing! For now, we just need to keep an eye on her until she is ready to talk.

Joey:

That sounds like a good plan. I think Bella is strong and she just needs time to 治療傷疤.

Hope:

Heal her wounds.

Joey:

Yes, heal her wounds. Bella just needs time to heal her wounds and she will recover in time.

Hope:

Exactly. Let’s give her some more space and be patient and supportive.

Joey:

Be patient is 有耐心 and be supportive is to support 她嗎?

Hope:

Yes, be supportive means showing encouragement and care.

Joey:

Got it. Be supportive means鼓勵的;支持的意思.

Hope:

That’s right.

Joey:

I think Bella is lucky to have friends like us!

Hope:

Let’s make sure she feels our support, even if we don’t say much right now.

Joey:

Okay. Sometimes 安靜地陪伴是最好的安慰!

Hope:

You can say that again. Being quiet is the best comfort!

Joey:

Yes. Being quiet is the best comfort!
