Dialogue: (對話)

Hope:

How are you today, Joey?

Joey:

Busy as usual. So many things to do today! How about you, Hope?

Hope:

Same here. I just had a meeting with our client. But Joey, you look a bit annoyed. What happened?

Joey:

Ugh! It’s my new neighbor. She moved in a few weeks ago and she keeps 踩我的底線.

Hope:

Crossing your bottom line?

Joey:

Yes, she keeps crossing my bottom line!

Hope:

What’s going on?

Joey:

Well, she asked me where to leave her garbage the first week she moved in,

and I told her to take it to the first-floor garbage gathering area.

And I told her she needed to 先做好垃圾分類.

Hope:

That’s good advice. So, what’s the problem? She doesn’t sort her garbage for recycling?

Joey:

No, she doesn’t. And what’s worse, she keeps leaving her garbage bags outside her apartment door.

Hope:

In the hallway? That’s public space!

Joey:

是不是? 那是公共區域呀.

Hope:

So, did you talk to her about it?

Joey:

Of course! I told her several times not to do it, but she is still 我行我素!  I think it is 公德心的問題!

Hope:

Yes, it is the matter of the sense of public responsibility.

Joey:

The sense of public responsibility 是公德心嗎?

Hope:

Yes, it is the sense of public responsibility.

Joey:

Okay! The sense of public responsibility! And I think she is totally lack of public responsibility!

Hope:

That’s a serious accuse.

Joey:

You see, I have told her several times not to leave her garbage bags on the hallway, and she still does it.

Hope:

No wonder you are so annoyed.

Joey:

You know it smells terrible, especially when she leaves it there for more than two days!

Hope:

I bet! That’s so inconsiderate of her!

Joey:

Inconsiderate? 不體貼他人嗎?

Hope:

That’s right.

Joey:

Yes. She is really inconsiderate to the people who live in the same floor.

Hope:

Did she give any reasons for doing that?

Joey:

She said it’s just convenient for her. Can you believe that?

Hope:

Did you tell her that convenience doesn’t mean she can ignore public space rules?

Joey:

I did. I just can’t understand her 行為.

Hope:

Behavior.

Joey:

Yes, I just can’t understand her behavior!

Hope:

Maybe you can have the building management involved.

Joey:

I might have to if she keeps doing so. Speaking of garbage, do you sort your garbage for recycling in your apartment?

Hope:

Yes, we do. In fact, there is a space for garbage recycling in my apartment.

We separate paper, plastic, glass and metal into different bins. It helps garbage trucks collect everything properly.

Joey:

Garbage trucks are 垃圾車, right?

Hope:

Yes. By recycling, we can reduce lots of waste. And that’s what we can do to help the environment and our planet.

Joey:

I agree. I think my neighbor needs a lesson about recycling.

Hope:

And before that, she needs to stop leaving her trash in the hallway!

Joey:

You are absolutely right!

Hope:

Good luck dealing with her!

Joey:

Thanks!
