Dialogue: (對話)

Hope:

Hey, Joey, how’s your day?

Joey:

Just fine. How about you, Hope?

Hope:

Not bad. So, Joey, how come I don’t see Sarah today?

Joey:

Sarah? Oh, I heard that she is in the hospital.

Hope:

In the hospital? What happened?

Joey:

Apparently, she went to a 小吃攤 at the night market last night with some of her friends and probably ate something wrong and 食物中毒.

Hope:

Wait! She got food poisoning because she had a meal because she went to a stall at the night market?

Joey:

Yes, she went to a stall, 小吃攤 to have dinner with her friends and she got food poisoning, 食物中毒.

Hope:

That sounds terrible. Is she okay?

Joey:

Not quite well. She seems the most serious one because she ate the 生魚片there.

Hope:

What? She ate fish raw? Uncooked? Raw fish?

Joey:

Yes, she ate uncooked fish, the raw fish. Can you imagine, she ate all the dish on her own. And she also ate一些熱炒.

Hope:

She also ate some stir-fry dishes? What about her friends?

Joey:

Oh, her friends were not as serious as Sarah, so they were all sent home after checking.

We guess the 攤商沒有確實處理好食材 or也或許是食材不夠新鮮.

Hope:

They are both possible conditions. If the vendor didn’t handle the ingredients properly,

the food would go wrong and if the ingredients were not fresh enough or even expired,

it could lead to the same situation. In other words, they are all possible situations to lead to food poisoning. Poor Sarah!

Joey:

Yes. If the vendor hadn’t cared much about handling the ingredients in a proper way, it is easy to lead to food poisoning problems.

And if any ingredients were expired, they go bad and they shouldn’t be served to the customers, either.

That’s why the 調查人員collected lots of stuff at the stall later last night, hoping to 找出 possible reasons of Sarah’s food poisoning.

Hope:

Oh? So investigators have carried out an investigation about Sarah’s case and tried to comb for the possible evidence.

By the way, is it possible that the dishes they used were not clean enough?

Joey:

對齁! 又或許是他們用的餐盤不夠乾淨?! The dishes they used might not be clean enough! Maybe the investigators have thought about that.

Hope:

Anyway, we need to be more aware of food safety. It is not just about taste; it is about our health, too.

Joey:

Perhaps from now on we should care more about衛生評比以及消費者評價等客觀條件呢。

Hope:

Agreed. We should start to pay more attention to hygiene ratings and consumers’ reviews It’s better to be cautious than to end up like Sarah.
