Celebrating Team Taiwan’s 2024 Olympics’ triumphant results at the 2024 Olympics, the Taiwan Pavilion at the Cultural Olympiad presented a variety of performances from Taiwanese artists on Aug. 4. The performing arts series featured music groups in different styles, including Hybrid Demi-Human (混種亞人), Feng-Chung-Teng Spirit Guiding Group (風中燈牽亡歌團), and Pun Car Band (麵包車樂團).
Hybrid Demi-Human kicked off the shows with “New Generation Hybrid Rhythms,” showcasing electronic music fused with traditional elements such as suona (嗩吶), Paiwan nose flute, and Atayal language.
After three consecutive days of performances, the Feng-Chung-Teng Spirit Guiding Group brought their final show to the Olympiad, expressing their sentiments towards their family and ancestors through the traditional art form.
To conclude the night, the Pun Car Band performed a series of famous Mandopop and Taiwan’s Hokkien pop songs. During the encore, the band celebrated the winning of Taiwan’s first gold medal this year, exclaiming, “We won a gold medal!”
