Why the National Education Radio was Established |
| |
Education is strongly emphasized in the R.O.C (Taiwan). Approved by the Executive Yuan in 1960, the Ministry of Education set up the Educational Broadcasting System to offer the opportunity of education to the large unschooled population in Taiwan. That same year on March 29, EBS was established and officially began operating to provide classes-on-the-air. |

With the Taiwan's social and economic development, more diverse programming is required. Throughout more than four decades of continuing efforts, the responsibilities of EBS have become ever heavier and broader.
ON October 3,1998, after the legislature passed the third reading of a statute, EBS was reorganized and renamed as the National Education Radio. In addition to the teaching programs, NER provides educational news, information and entertainment by broadcasting 24 hours a day. NER enters a new era of educational broadcast.
We hope NER will pursue the progress together with you, and embrace the bright future based upon its present solid foundation. |
